Heralding a new period of creativity; In the Wake of the Poetic explores the aesthetics and politics of Palestinian cultural expression in the last two decades. As it increasingly gains a significant presence on the international scene; much of Palestinian art owes a debt to Mahmoud Darwish; one of the finest contemporary poets; and to Palestinian writers of his generation. Rahman maps the immense influence of Darwishrsquo;s poetry on a new generation of performance artists; visual artists; spoken-word poets; and musicians. Through an examination of selected works by key artistsmdash;such as Suheir Hammad; Ghassan Zaqtan; Elia Suleiman; Mona Hatoum; Sharif Waked; and othersmdash;Rahman articulates an aesthetic founded on loss; dispersion; dispossession; and transformation. It interrupts dominant regimes; constituting acts of dissension and intervention. It reinscribes belonging and is oriented toward solidarity and future. This innovative wave of experimentation transforms our understanding of the national through the diasporic and the transnational; and offers a profound meditation on identity.

If you are looking for a condensed history of Detroits beer industry and information about Detroits present craft brewhouses. buy this book. If you are seeking a more thorough history of Detroits beer industry. buy the late Peter Blums excellent "Brewed in Detroit: Breweries and Beers since 1830." I have them both and use the latter as my main source of information about Detroits beer industry from its inception through the sale of the Stroh Brewery in 1999.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Lack of modern-day fact-checkingBy Jeff RobinsonA book which is factually incorrect. Researched through cursory Google searches. As an owner who is mis-named in the book because the writer relied on incorrect syndicated print media for facts. it would have been nice to actually meet the guy who was writing this book. Cant recommend it.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A great Christmas presentBy KarenBought this for my husband for Christmas. He thinks it is great.
