Chris Higgs has worked in the entertainment industry since 1973 providing rigging services and flying for theatre; opera; ballet; television and concert touring from the mid 70s to the late 90s. Chris was one of the founders of rigging training for the UK industry in 1995 and Total Training started in 1998 when he joined what is now the Total Solutions Group. In the process of conceiving the annual PLASA Rigging Conferences since 2010; Chris formed a strong alliance with Cristiano Giavedoni; creator of Mario the Rigger who makes regular appearances at the Conference and in other publications. When Chris realised he had written 50 lsquo;Rigging Callrsquo; articles for Lighting + Sound International since 2005 and decided to publish the original texts as a book; what better way to illustrate them? Cristiano is a kindred spirit and consequently the two accomplices have already collaborated on other projects and continue to do so. Cristiano Giavedoni started to work in the entertainment industry in 1985; he has been a lighting and rigging technician for almost 20 years. In 2005 he joined Litec srl. as rigging product manager; and in 2009 became an independent consultant working as business manager for Columbus McKinnon and later as business and marketing director for Kinesys Projects Limited. Hersquo;s currently co-director of Blumano Ltd; a UK-based engineering and machinery entertainment consultancy company. Cristiano met Chris ten years ago and; bizarrely; the first conversation they had was related to entertainment standards. Their paths have crossed many times since then; collaborating together during the organisation of the PLASA Rigging Conferences being one of the more creative strolls. Cristiano drew and presented Mario The Rigger in 2010; who has since become a bit of an icon of the Rigging Conference. In the Rigging Call articles; Chris has a unique way to look at things; to pick angles others do not even consider. Transferring these visions into drawings has been a natural process.
