Eric believes that this book is the "craft bible;" since it focuses entirely on the craft an actor must acquire in order to fulfill dramatic material. The book explores the seven major obligations related to material--time and place; relationship; emotional; character; thematic; historical; and subtextual--and from there goes on to define choices and explain how to use them to fulfill those obligations. The third element of the craft; the choice approaches; is the practical work the actor must do to create the choices. Out of the current thirty-one choice approaches; only twenty-two are explored in this book. The remaining nine are investigated in subsequent books.

Although she has been painting for several years she had never tried one-stroke before. and this book is the prefect introduction to this technique. It explains all the basic stuff. how to use the brushes. mix the colours. etc. However. I should also say that. if you are an absolute beginner and you have never painted before you will probalby find this book a bit "advanced". My advice: If you have already painted before and you want to start one-stroke. this is the book for you. If you have never painted. try another book. Perhaps one of Donna Dewberrys beginners guide will be the best option for you.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. I was looking for different ideas for paint projects and maybe more detailed instructions. I enjoyed the book and used a couple things from it but I was hoping for more. I have been doing One-Stroke for a number of years and this book is definitely not for beginners.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Awesome book!By LibbyThis book is absolutely awesome! It show all the stokes needed to do one-stroke painting and proceeds to show you how to paint several things! I do wish some of the stokes shown were on the same page as the flower that she is demonstrating that way I dont have to flip back and forth. but that is a minor inconvenience when you see what this book offers. Another great book by Donna Dewberry!
