Text and Image in Modern European Culture is a collection of essays that are transnational and interdisciplinary in scope. Employing a range of innovative comparative approaches to reassess and undermine traditional boundaries between art forms and national cultures; the contributors shed new light on the relations between literature and the visual arts in Europe after 1850. Following tenets of comparative cultural studies; work presented in this volume explores international creative dialogues between writers and visual artists; ekphrasis in literature; literature and design (fashion; architecture); hybrid texts (visual poetry; surrealist pocket museums; poetic photo-texts); and text and image relations under the impact of modern technologies (avant-garde experiments; digital poetry). The discussion encompasses pivotal fin de siegrave;cle; modernist; and postmodernist works and movements in Britain; France; Germany; Italy; Poland; Russia; and Spain. A selected bibliography of work published in the field is also included. The volume will appeal to scholars of comparative literature; art history; and visual studies; and it includes contributions appropriate for supplementary reading in senior undergraduate and graduate seminars.

A More Advanced Draw 50By Outdoorsy MomLike most of the Draw 50 books. this one features 50 step-by-step drawings for the reader to follow along and draw his/herself. The results are satisfying. Id say this one takes things a bit further than the early books. like Draw 50 Animals. There is more shading featured and the birds are a bit more complicated. Its still easy. just not quite as simple as some other Draw 50s. For young children. Draw 50 Animals might be a better choice. as it would be easier to get pleasing results. right away. Older kids and adults can dive into this book and produce some lovely birds that are fun to draw. From backyard birds to tropical birds. there is a large range. here. including a dodo! As with all Draw 50s. there is almost no text (just an intro at the beginning). so be aware that this book may disappoint if you want a lot of written instruction. If you want to grab a pencil and go. this book is for you!2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. After all these years. still Love it!By k.b.I love Lee J. Ames draw 50 books. As an elementary schooler I checked them out from the library religiously. They teach the underlying form beneath the structure in a way even kids can understand. Just bought this for my kids and they love it too!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
