Early Italian Painting (Art of Century)

[ePub] Early Italian Painting (Art of Century) by Joseph Archer Crowe; Giovanni Battista Cavalcaselle; Anna Jameson at Arts-Photography

Description

Deriving from the French word rocaille; in reference to the curved forms of shellfish; and the Italian barocco; the French created the term lsquo;Rococorsquo;. Appearing at the beginning of the 18th century; it rapidly spread to the whole of Europe. Extravagant and light; Rococo responded perfectly to the spontaneity of the aristocracy of the time. In many aspects; this art was linked to its predecessor; Baroque; and it is thus also referred to as late Baroque style. While artists such as Tiepolo; Boucher and Reynolds carried the style to its apogee; the movement was often condemned for its superficiality. In the second half of the 18th century; Rococo began its decline. At the end of the century; facing the advent of Neoclassicism; it was plunged into obscurity. It had to wait nearly a century before art historians could restore it to the radiance of its golden age; which is rediscovered in this work by Klaus H. Carl and Victoria Charles.

A must have if you love photography and the outdoors.By BobIf you love photography and the outdoors this book is for you!! Not only does this book have beautiful large up close color photos; but it is a super easy read! Every photo taken has an in depth guide as to how the photo was taken including the camera used; lens used; location;exposure and lighting. I also love that this book has a wide variety of subjects from flowers; insects; amphibians and reptiles; with a brief description about every photo making it a very interesting read as well. Again if you love photography and the outdoors dont hesitate to buy this book; you wont be disappointed!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. GREAT INTRO TO MACROPHOTOGRAPHYBy Lynn StoneDennis Quinn is a self-described ecologist and conservation biologist; but the recent publication of his book Macrophotography makes it clear that he should add outdoor photographer and writer to his resume.Macrophotography is not an exhaustive treatise on the subject; but; more important; it is an inspirational work; if you werent interested in the macro world; or; more specifically; macro nature photography before you opened the front cover; you will be by the time you reach the end cover. Pick a photo (any photo) in the book and you have at your fingertips a description (Tech Specs) of how the photo was made. The species descriptions and the anecdotes that accompany them are a bonus. Most of Quinns photos were taken outdoors; "on location;" and he stresses the joy of taking the ordinary critter - such as a beetle - and making it; through patience and macro photography; extraordinary. But macrophotography; as Quinn recognizes; is not always about planting oneself in a swamp or on a carpet of leaves in the great outdoors. Quinn also takes his readers indoors; where subjects can be manipulated and posed far more easily than in the outdoors.Indoor macrophotography requires different techniques than outdoor macro work; and Quinn is up to the task. His photos illuminate both the straight-forward; relatively simple processes that accompany outdoor macrophotography (some might question whether contorting oneself into a pretzel to see eye-to-eye with a frog is "simple") and the more sophisticated art of indoor macro work. For the beginner especially; the book is a trove of information; both about its title and its animal subjects; but there is plenty of photo food here; too; for experienced nature photographers. Consider the cover photo: a treefrog photographed from its underside against a black background. If the reader is baffled by the "how" of the situation; Quinn unravels that mystery and techniques for photographing critters in.aquaria.The era of digital photography has made macrophotography not only easier but potentially far better. The marketplace is rife with macro lenses and accessories. If you havent indulged in the joy of macrophotography; Quinns book may be just the push into that world that youve been waiting for.
