This book investigates novel methods and technologies for the collection; analysis and representation of real-time user-generated data at the urban scale in order to explore potential scenarios for more participatory design; planning and management processes. For this purpose; the authors present a set of experiments conducted in collaboration with urban stakeholders at various levels (including citizens; city administrators; urban planners; local industries and NGOs) in Milan and New York in 2012. It is examined whether geo-tagged and user-generated content can be of value in the creation of meaningful; real-time indicators of urban quality; as it is perceived and communicated by the citizens. The meanings that people attach to places are also explored to discover what such an urban semantic layer looks like and how it unfolds over time. As a conclusion; recommendations are proposed for the exploitation of user-generated content in order to answer hitherto unsolved urban questions. Readers will find in this book a fascinating exploration of techniques for mining the social web that can be applied to procure user-generated content as a means of investigating urban dynamics.

My one wish would be to have this list made into an actual CD or Mp3By AME422So; admittedly; I was totally mistaken in thinking this was a compilation of songs and not an ebook; but that was totally due to my lack of; ironically; reading thoroughly. However; I was pleasantly surprised in the list that was provided. If I were to provide my kids with a list of what I believe to be some of the greatest rock songs ever; nearly all of these would be on that list. The only thing that could have added to the book was photos of the artists so kids could see and know who they were. My husband and I love rock music and we constantly have music playing in our house. Kudos to whomever compiled the list. Now I have some music to download and put into a playlist.*I was lucky enough to receive this item at a discounted price. As a teacher of elementary students; I would love to incorporate this ebook into a small group activity where I present a main idea or topic to the whole class and then they break up in small groups and discover more material on their own. It is the perfect age group to let them use a kindle to explore and what a better way to do so than with this ebook! Many of the songs in this book are greats however a few of them I have never heard of and I consider myself a music Connoisseur; I love all types of music and this book brings together the information when the song and the band or musician that sung it came together. Where it was performed and the response the song was given. I found this book most enjoyable and I learned a thing or two about where the music came from.My grandson is in 2nd grade; is an avid reader; he reads way above his school grade. He told me that vivid pictures allow him to use his imagine to transport him to another place and time.
