I try very hard not to purchase or read books that are harshly negative of Elvis. He was a human being and had a heart of gold. He had his faults but dont we all. Once I started reading the book it was hard to put down. For the most part they all did not judge him.but they told a story. Good and bad we got different sides to some of the stories but everyone sees things differently. It is a very good book .1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Always a fanBy DixiechickA classic example of too much too soon with absolutely no guidance. Seems he did not have a moments peace once he became successful. Sad that he lost his moral compass after his mother passed away and allowed his manager who was unable to cultivate his talent to control his personal and professional life which eventually set him on a path to self destruction. A sad wasted life that could have been miraculous.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Captivating!By Emira O.Really an amazing book. It was such a pleasure reading it. Captivating. I really enjoyed not only the story but also the warmth and sheer love which Billy Smith has for Elvis. as well as Lamar Fikes sharp-witted observations and a unique sense of humor. This book also opens the question of the much-neglected wives of the Memphis Mafia members and would be really interesting to read a book on the drama going on in these later mostly broken families. as these questions are something that the Mafia members sporadically mention as a well known fact. which in fact is not that known to the public.
