English Houses: An Estate Agent's Companion

[audiobook] English Houses: An Estate Agent's Companion by Bruce Munro at Arts-Photography

Description

Londons royal parks are amongst its most beautiful and beloved spaces: just as much as the Houses of Parliament; Buckingham Palace and Victoria Station; the mere mention of Hyde or Regents Park is enough to evoke the capital in all its glory for residents and tourists alike. They have a grand history ndash; some having been royally-owned as far back as the Norman conquest; and others having been acquired by Henry VIII during the Reformation ndash; and since being opened to the public during the eighteenth century have hosted some of Londons great events; including the Great Exhibition and innumerable jubilees and celebrations. This book tells the story of all nine of the parks from the point when they were acquired by the monarchy until the present day; including the major historic moments and events with which they are associated.

Im thrilled; as I expected; by this new book because not only am I a professional actor; but I teach and coach and this book helped to teach me how to teach while at the same time giving me valuable tools as an actor. Both sides of the coin! Tell me another book that can do that!?!After you read this book you will better understand terms in a way that will help you to develop a clear dialogue with students (or directors) so that what is expected of them becomes so much more clear. This book reminds you of the bones that give acting its strength. Its so easy to get carried away with emotion but in the end its the craft that helps you tell the story night after night after night or class after class after class. This book WILL HELP YOU A LOT! GET THIS BOOK! GET IT NOW!2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. This is an amazing aid to the teacher or coachBy Marianna De FazioThis is an amazing aid to the teacher or coach. It takes what we enjoy about top-notch performances and names it; defines it and breaks it into swallow-able; teachable parts. Technique is a skill that requires practice; and Jory makes tangible and concrete what can otherwise be amorphous or heady about acting. Great for teachers of students of all levels.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Teaching the Actor Craft is INVALUABLE - A MUST HAVE FOR TEACHERS AND WORKING ACTORSBy ABThere are many books on acting in my collection; but for teaching I dont rely on any as much as Jon Jorys Teaching the Actor Craft. My first copy is already completely dog-eared; highlighted and marked up with exclamation points in the margins. The man is a master teacher and has distilled his long experience as a director and educator into a powerful and accessible progression of exercises that help actors sharpen the necessary skills to make manifest their imagination and reveal the text. The exercises come complete with well-crafted monologues and scenes to practice the techniques. Also; Jory suggests several possible progressions of the exercises for beginning or advanced craft classes of varying lengths; including a course structure for high school classes.TEACHING THE ACTOR CRAFT is as concise; practical; and insightful as Jorys previous books. There are other master teachers in the US; but Jory can write. Having studied with him personally; I am impressed by how clearly his voice and insight are captured in the book: no-nonsense; witty and perfectly paced for practical use. In my experience; technique is often left out of actor training. TEACHING THE ACTOR CRAFT addresses the gap brilliantly. I teach; coach and direct for a living; working with students and professionals; and this book is INDISPENSABLE.
