If you want a quick reference with tips; dont choose this book. It is more detailed with lots of information and therefore is not a quick and easy reference guide. However; I love it and found it very useful.5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. I would have liked a little more than the basicsBy Erik J. McculloughNot a bad book; but depending on your knowledge level; you might learn very little.I am no expert; but I did feel like the nuggets of information were few and far between. Much of the book is expecting as if you hadnt even turned the thing on -- that youve kept it in the box waiting for this book to arrive. So its a fast read; and that made it even faster; since Ive owned it for 3 months.I think you could have found most of this on your own; by reading the Apple owner manual; etc. And there wasnt a lot of reviews of apps; etc.; which to be fair; is probably pretty hard to pull off in a published book vs. a website; or even a magazine.I do like David Pogue; and the writing style. I also cant say that theres a better book; just that I didnt feel like my point of reference I learned a lot.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. No 4.2By WordaholicThis is certainly a really useful book. Just one caveat: It came out during iOs 3. Now were at iOs 4.2; and a few things have changed. The one I noticed was when I tried the rotation lock button and it didnt work. I think its a mute button now? The rotation lock is now in software; as I learned on the Apple support site. Double press the home button to get recent apps; swipe right to get to the left end -- and theres the icon for rotation lock/unlock.
