My perspective is someone who bought a large mixer and needed to learn more about how to use it. I read through this book pretty quickly and it was somewhat helpful but I was still pretty lost and wasnt able to make any decisions. However; then I read Mixing Audio; Second Edition: Concepts; Practices and Tools by Roey Izhaki; specifically the chapter on "Mixing Consoles". At the end of the chapter; I understood far more than I had from "Basic Mixers" and pretty comprehensively knew how to setup my mixer (and that was one chapter!). So although this is a credible little book; I would only buy it if you were dirt broke and wanted to be informed; but not necessarily educated about mixing. Otherwise; I cant say enough good things about the Izhaki book and you should turn there instead.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Paul Whites Basic audio seriesBy dpgoldSave your money and just get Paul Whites Creative Recording 1 2 books.Unfortunately I found out (too late) that these Basic series are a direct (and sometimes even a condensed) extract from the Creative Reading 1 2 books; which I already owned. Therefore the Basic series is a VERY expensive way to get access to all of Paul Whites great information found in Creative Reading 1 2 books.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great book for anyone who wishes to work in musicBy JustinI have been doing live sound for over 6 years and when i was asked to do a training session i bought this book to aid me in teaching others. It helped a lot it provided clear and concise answers and how tos. I wish i had this book back when i was starting out it would have saved me a lot of time and headaches. Now i recommend this book to any who wishes to work in both recording and live music productions.
