Description

A Trivial Comedy for Serious People: its subtitle is the best summary of a play that is the theatrical equivalent of a butterfly. The verbal brilliance of its highly self-conscious characters hides deep anxieties about social and personal identity: Jack Worthing; found as a baby in a handbag at Victoria Station and named after a railway ticket; is prepared to be re-christened to obtain the Christian name - Earnest - his beloved Gwendolen requires in a husband; he then has to confront the stigma of being the illegitimate child of a servant; before fortune; and a benevolent dramatist; reveal his true and entirely respectable identity. This is the only one-volume edition of the play to include an appendix with earlier versions and additional scenes that allow an appreciation of Wildes creative process.

Not all the animals in this ebook belong to the Monkey Kingdom" but instead are "Great Apes."By ElizabethWell; as someone mentioned...."Apes are not monkeys. Apes are larger; have fewer young (and spend a longer time raising them); spend more time upright; and depend more on their eyes than on their noses. And unlike monkeys; apes do not have tails. But the most important difference is that apes are more intelligent than monkeys. Their brains are larger and more developed; and apes can learn and pass along information. There are four kinds of great apes: gorillas; orangutans; chimpanzees; and bonobos. Gorillas; chimpanzees; and bonobos live in groups in Africa. Orangutans live in Indonesia and spend much of their time alone."(The above information was taken from FactMonster.com.)So...I wish this book wouldve added this information. I plan on reading this ebook with my kids but using this as a learning experience. Dont always believe everything you see on the internet or even books for that matter.Another Baby Professor book with some cool pictures. There are about 200 books in this ebook series that are offered in the kindle store for either free or for .99cent;. You cant really go wrong with the books offered for free. There is a variety of subjects covered and most of the books follow about the same format. You can take a peek inside the books by clicking "Look Inside" and this is pretty much what you get in each book. This particular book is ok. The format for this book is the same as most of the Baby Professor books in this series which have a picture with a paragraph and facts on one page. Then the next page is just a photo. It would be nice if they had another paragraph on that page too. I mean its great they have a picture of an abacus and talk about it. But then the next page is just a picture of another abacus. It would be very simple to talk about how one is used by sliding the beads.Anyway; overall; I do like theses books for their wonderful pictures. It would be nice if the books went into more detail but they are very basic books that I hope will get my kids interested in finding more about each subject. It will be pretty neat for my kids to be able to see the progression of the computer and how a computer used to take up entire rooms!I plan on keeping these books on my iPad for down time for my kids when they get bored waiting different places like the doctors office or practice for a sibling. I sometimes watch a friends 3 year old daughter and she likes to look through the pictures on my phone. I plan on showing her these books to keep her entertained. I think she will love them.***** I received this ebook for free for my honest review. *****1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Awesome Book!!!By Crystal HipsmanDont let the game of "monkey see; monkey do" be your childs sole association to monkeys. Learning is much more complete when done with the use of this fun but highly educational book. Here; your child will experience being with monkeys (though only through the imagination). The pictures will tell a good story; which will only be supported by the texts. This book ldquo;Monkey Kingdom: Gorillas to Chimpanzeesrdquo;; is part of the series collection for Childrenrsquo;s Animal Books; published by Speedy Publishing. This is a picture book with short references for each photograph or picture based on the idea that a child will easy remember the concept by just looking into the picture related to that concept taught. An excellent publication addressed to small children that can be used for teaching purposes and as a source to share a good lecture with your kids. As this book is about Gorillas and Chimpanzees any small children or reader will get an enriching knowledge experience. It contains amazing full color; high detailed; photographs/pictures about the Monkey Kingdom and concepts that characterize them as primates. There are approximately 260 known monkey species which are known as ldquo;triberdquo;; ldquo;trooprdquo; or ldquo;missionrdquo;. Gorillas are herbivorous apes that inhabit the forests of central Africa. Each gorilla family has a silverback leader who scares away other animals. The smallest monkey in the world is the Pygmy Marmoset who usually lives in dense rain forest. Orangutans live in Indonesia and Malaysia on the islands of Sumatra and Borneo. Lovely photographs and references; you may find; from Snow Monkeys; Mona Monkey; the beautiful Dusky Leaf Monkey; Mandrills; Gibbon and Chimpanzees. As this book has beautiful; full colored; high detailed; photographs/pictures you may want to share with your kids and/or students as they can serve as point for further discussions or a way to develop language skill by promoting the children to express themselves about what they see and understand by looking at the photograph or picture. I really enjoyed this book even though I am an adult. Each interesting and fun filled fact has a vibrant; full color picture of the animal they are talking about and several animals even contain an additional picture of it. You learn a little bit about the Pygmy Marmoset which is the smallest in the monkey kingdom to the largest in the monkey kingdom which is the Mandrill. You also get to learn about a few of the more intelligent monkeys such as the chimpanzee and the Snow monkey which is one of the cleverest. Baby Professor lets the reader know of the different names that some of the monkeys are also known by too. It is a pretty easy read without really difficult words to be explained. This book is geared to younger readers with a good grasp on reading. But a young reader that has help with reading this book will also really enjoy this book. The book isnt too long to bore a young reader but is also long enough for a child that has a short attention span. i would definitely read this book on a laptop; computer; or something with a larger screen to take full affect of the pictures. It is a great learning book to help a child learn more about the animal kingdom. It should also help pique a childs interest in wanting to read more. As with almost all of the books I have read by Baby Professor; this book would be a wonderful addition to a childs library. Baby Professor has started to become a well known author for young childrens books and the fact that they are learning books makes it even better. I did notice that there were a couple of instances where one fact would be in standard measurement such as inches and another fact is in meters. However; that is about the only issues I really noticed. I am glad that I got a chance to read this book to my kids.I received this at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Incorrect information; not recommendedBy Mary JuettTo start off this book is titled Monkey Kingdom: Gorillas to Chimpanzees. It starts off with one huge misconception that leaves me doubting the author has any actual knowledge on this subject. Gorillas and Chimpanzees are apes; not monkeys. They are from 2 different classifications of primates. Within the book the author discusses Gorillas; Chimpanzees; and Orangutans. None of which are monkeys; all apes. Take those three out and the book only briefly mentions a total of six actual monkeys; providing very little information about any of them. The only good thing I can say is that the author at least didnt list any prosimians as monkeys; although with as few species as they mentioned I have a feeling if they would have provided a decent amount of animals for overview in this they probably would have incorrectly added this classification of primate as well. The book is written in a picture book style potentially aimed at preschoolers or kindergarteners. The incorrect information in the book makes this inappropriate for children of any age.I wouldnt recommend this book to anyone due to the blatant classification errors. Its obvious the author doesnt understand this topic and should not have created a book about it. It has inaccurate information and would only further this misconception to children. Instead kids should be provided with books that properly discuss the classifications of monkeys and apes; ideally with more detail and information than is provided in this book.I received a digital copy of this book free in exchange for an honest review.
