The Oxford Handbook of Sound and Image in Digital Media surveys the contemporary landscape of audiovisual media. Contributors to the volume look not only to changes brought by digital innovations; but to the complex social and technological past that informs; and is transformed by; new media. This collection is conceived as a series of dialogues and inquiries by leading scholars from both image- and sound-based disciplines. Chapters explore the history and the future of moving-image media across a range of formats including blockbuster films; video games; music videos; social media; digital visualization technologies; experimental film; documentaries; video art; pornography; immersive theater; and electronic music. Sound; music; and noise emerge within these studies as integral forces within shifting networks of representation. The essays in this collection span a range of disciplinary approaches (film studies; musicology; philosophy; cultural studies; the digital humanities) and subjects of study (Iranian documentaries; the Twilight franchise; military combat footage; and Lady Gaga videos). Thematic sections and direct exchanges among authors facilitate further engagement with the debates invoked by the text.

The piano notes are the equivalent listening to a midi version instead of a CDBy Ruth PrincessIm not a very good piano player but this was simplified so much that it doesnt match the music. I must have listened to the CD 20 times sitting at the piano trying to hear any instrument that was playing what was written. It wasnt there!!! I got so frustrated that I searched for the Original Conductors Score; found it and was completely satisfied. If you are looking for music for taking piano lessons or just want the lyrics and the melody for singing; than this is OK. But if you want to PLAY the music than this is greatly disappointing.I couldnt give it less than 3 stars because original music deserves more than 5 stars and averaging it with the crap in the base clef and the tab type version of the treble clef is only one star.Search the Internet for the conductors score in pdf version instead. You can then play the music on the piano or other instruments.12 of 13 people found the following review helpful. Pretty true to the album music.By Some1inKCSome of the songs didnt quite feel right and some of the music is quite difficult but overall this music book for piano is a pretty good interpretation of the orchestral arrangements. It includes all the popular songs from Chess.
