Description

Starting where he left off with his "Serious Jazz Practice Book;" guitar legend Barry Finnerty has created another woodshed classic for all jazz soloists. Recording artist with Miles Davis; the Brecker Bros.; etc.; Barry shows how to become a better improviser by melodically mastering the individual chords used in jazz; how they connect with each other; and how they are used in various song forms. A long-overdue portrait of Confederate enlisted men and junior officers.By BlackacreMost works about the War for Southern Independence focus on battle tactics and the generals who led their troops. While such works are useful. they seldom tell the stories of the enlisted men and junior officers who bore the brunt of the on-the-ground fighting and incurred the most casualties. The carte-de- visites shown in this book portray these young men as they leave home. and the author tells their often poignant stories. It conveys the appearance of these mostly young men and their feelings as they depart for the front lines - some display the bulletproof confidence of youth. while others are clearly more grim and realistic about what they will face in combat. A fascinating. thoroughly researched book and worthy of addition to the library of any serious student of the conflict.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Faces of the ConfederacyBy Cabin GirlI bought this book for my husband who loves history. As a veteran I knew he would find it interesting. I was right... he loved it. I purchased it along with Ron Coddingtons other book Faces of the Civil War because I thought my husband would want to read about both sides. They are a great pairing and I cant wait to buy more of Rons books for my husband.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Three StarsBy John KizerAm enjoying the book very much.
