[DOC] Famous for 15 Minutes: My Years with Andy Warhol by Ultra Violet in Arts-Photography

Description

Bourne is considered the gateway to Cape Cod. Whether one travels across the Bourne Bridge or the Sagamore Bridge to gain access to the Cape; the town of Bourne is inevitably en route. In 1884; Bourne was separated from the town of Sandwich and has grown into a community of distinct villages; including Buzzards Bay and Bournedale; Sagamore Beach; Sagamore; Bourne; Monument Beach; Pocasset; and Cataumet. Uniting all these communities is the Cape Cod Canal; which opened in 1914. Over the years; Bournes economy has been bolstered by the cranberry industry; the iron foundries; and the Holway Axe factory. The Keith Car Mfg. Co. began a booming business in town; starting by making covered wagons and eventually manufacturing railroad cars. From the dude train that brought men from the cities to join their families on weekends to the hotels; beaches; and seafood restaurants that catered to them; Bourne shares photographs of what life was like for visitors and residents of this tight-knit community.

Several years ago I was working with an architect to design an office interior and I was frustrated with the design concepts being presented. I knew something was wrong but I couldnt articulate it. Then I found this book and I handed it to the architect and said; "this is what I want." We completely changed the look and feel of the office based on the inspiring work of Takashi Sugimoto. He is able to combine organic forms and materials with functionality to achieve an aesthetic that is timeless and beautiful.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Must have if you are a designer...By Jeffrey LimBrilliant creativity.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. The art of natural materials in interior designBy Heejae LeeI purchased this book; not knowing that I had already experienced first-hand the work of Takashi Sugimoto (founder and principal of Super Potato Design). While visiting Seoul; Korea; I stayed at the Park Hyatt and was very inspired by the interior design. The choice of large stones in their rough state juxtaposed to the delicate wood louvres were elements I havent seen at that time. I knew the design was Asian inspired in the way that natural materials were incorporated to create an interior that blurred the boundaries of outside/inside; but I had no idea it was by a renowned designer from Japan.Takashi Sugimotos usage of raw natural materials in his interior makes us rethink what is acceptable in terms of interior scale and form. Furthermore; it shows that when a material such as stone is exaggerated and placed into an interior space; the size of the material takes center stage over form. This monograph provides an insight into this phenomenal designers ouvre from the early 70s to the present.amassingdesign.blogspot
