With that in mind; I must say that the book is incredible. I grew up in Southampton and have resided here most of my life so I have gotten accustomed to the impeccable estate surroundings and charms of the idyllic village. To see the extent of utter devastation caused by the Hurricane of 38 was a surprise. The photos of the wreckage are remarkable as is the authors intimate knowledge of the history of Southampton. The combination makes the book a must for anyone with an interest in this wonderful town; or perhaps with an interest in seeing what it would look like destroyed. Please support my dear mothers work and I promise you will enjoy it.
