[ePub] Feminism and Theatre by Sue-Ellen Case at Arts-Photography

Description

Lafayette Squares rich history dates back to the founding of the District of Columbia when Pierre LEnfant planned it as part of the grounds for the presidents house. The square was one of the first open spaces within the city to be designed as a public park. Across Pennsylvania Avenue from the White House; the parks neighborhood became home to presidents; vice presidents; cabinet members; diplomats; inventors; journalists; heroes; authors; scientists; law breakers; and scoundrels. Today; the square and its sculptures are surrounded by government offices; but symbolically; it is the White Houses front yard; making it an attractive destination. Using historic photographs; Lafayette Square captures the squares social; political; and architectural history; highlighting important past events.

Its broad; deep; illuminating insight caught me off guard. I had never heard of Finley Eversole; and I wasnt sure what to expect when I ordered the book. I thought; according to the title; that it would be a commentary on how art can reveal stages of spiritual transformation. The book fulfills this promise; but then it also transcends it.By far.Weaving together art; culture; history; psychology; philosophy; myth; spirituality; esoteric insights; poetry; science; and more; Finley Eversole puts forth an inspiring message of unity in this book. Through art; he explores the dark days our culture has rumbled through and suggests that humanity is in the midst of a profound re-centering and spiritual transformation. And that; while there is darkness; suffering; anxiety; and despair everywhere you turn in the modern world; there is also hope; at the end of the tunnel; for light. This is not just a book for artists. It is for any seeker of truth.Read and relish the powerful wisdom within.0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Good but way over blownBy Mike LewandowskiSome nice thoughts especially in the first third of the book but really this authors ideas are over blown. He goes on and on and on repeating himself to the point where I just put the book down and say to myself enough is enough. Being quite an accomplished artist myself I hope someday someone will write about my art this way; but I could not stand to read it.0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. The best thing about the book is the cover artBy janIm sorry that I purchased this self-serving treatise. The best thing about the book is the cover art. The author included no seldom-seen art works and added nothing to the already huge body of art analysis; Little attempt has been made to enlarge on what was obviously his doctoral dissertation. Dont waste your money!
