Film Restoration: The Culture and Science of Audiovisual Heritage

[audiobook] Film Restoration: The Culture and Science of Audiovisual Heritage by L. Enticknap in Arts-Photography

Description

The now venerable firm of Royal Barry Wills was founded in a one-room office on Bostons Beacon Street in 1925. Initially fueled by word of mouth and occasional newspaper exposure; the firm gained admiration for Willsrsquo;s fresh take on various New England styles; including Georgian; Tudor; French Provincial; and Colonial American. Driven by the countrys desire for both aesthetic appeal and practicality; the firms popularity increased dramatically with its focus on the creation of modern homes inspired by the one-and-a-half-story Cape Cod houses; which perfectly balanced the classic and the new.Now run by his son; Richard Wills; the firm has been designing elegant private homes in the classically inspired Colonial New England tradition for more than eighty-five years. As time has passed; their Cape Cod-style homes have proven remarkably adaptable to the demands of contemporary life; while staying true to Willss original flair for intermingling past and present. This book features examples of the firms work from its founding to the present; with an emphasis on more recent houses that have been built throughout New England.

The author would probably scream like a woman and wet his pants if he ever saw a real ghost. He is NO ghost hunter. There are numerous errors in the book. I will list just a few from the chapter about the haunted mansion:1. Mrs. Pappas as he calls her (she had been remarried and her name was no longer Pappas when he apparently "researched" this and wrote this crap) is NOT haunting the mansion as she believed that her dad was haunting it! Im not sure who is haunting it as something is there; but its NOT Irene.2. Mrs. Pappas did not die in the 1991 as the book says. She died in 2007.He obviously has his facts messed up.3. As far as the family knows; Irene NEVER told "numerous citizens" that the building across the street from the mansion would burn then day she died. THAT was a coincidence and odd; but she never said that. This book is full of crap...the author needs to write about FACTS and not some stuff hes seen in movies.I grew up in Mantorville and while I agree that there might be some ghostly activity going on; this book is full of fluff..not facts.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.
