[audiobook] Fotografiacute;as de Martin Gusinde en Tierra del Fuego (1919-1924): La imagen material y receptiva (Spanish Edition) by Marisol Palma Behnke in Arts-Photography

Description

An impassioned; funny; probing; fiercely inconclusive; nearly-to-the-death debate about life and artmdash;beers included.Caleb Powell always wanted to become an artist; but he overcommitted to life (hersquo;s a stay-at-home dad to three young girls); whereas his former professor David Shields always wanted to become a human being; but he overcommitted to art (he has five books coming out in the next year and a half). Shields and Powell spend four days together at a cabin in the Cascade Mountains; playing chess; shooting hoops; hiking to lakes and an abandoned mine; they rewatch My Dinner with Andreacute; and The Trip; relax in a hot tub; and talk about everything they can think of in the name of exploring and debating their central question (life and/or art?): marriage; family; sports; sex; happiness; drugs; death; betrayalmdash;and; of course; writers and writing. The relationshipmdash;the balance of powermdash;between Shields and Powell is in constant flux; as two egos try to undermine each other; two personalities overlap and collapse. This book seeks to deconstruct the QA format; which has roots as deep as Plato and Socrates and as wide as Laurel and Hardy; Beckettrsquo;s Didi and Gogo; and Car Talkrsquo;s Magliozzi brothers. I Think Yoursquo;re Totally Wrong also seeks to confound; as much as possible; the divisions between ldquo;realityrdquo; and ldquo;fiction;rdquo; between ldquo;liferdquo; and ldquo;art.rdquo; There are no teachers or students here; no interviewers or interviewees; no masters in the universemdash;only a chasm of uncertainty; in a dialogue that remains dazzlingly provocative and entertaining from start to finish.James Francos adaptation of I Think Youre Totally Wrong into a film; with Shields and Powell striving mightily to play themselves and Franco in a supporting role; will be released later this year. From the Hardcover edition.

I knew Wilson pretty well and produced his last album. The parts of the story I witnessed are portrayed with great accuracy; and the rest has given me a terrific insight into the man I knew just a part of. I highly recommend this to anyone whos been touched by his music and wondered about the man behind it.5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Pulls no punchesBy Luke KellyFascinating biography by Tony Fletcher. Combining an understanding or music musicians with a comprehensive social commentary of the times. Fletcher; unfortunately like Pickett himself; pulls no punches in highs and lows of life. Essential reading for anyone interested in music and American society in the 60s.
