In this compelling work; Brian Ladd examines the ongoing conflicts radiating from the remarkable fusion of architecture; history; and national identity in Berlin. Ladd surveys the urban landscape; excavating its ruins; contemplating its buildings and memorials; and carefully deconstructing the public debates and political controversies emerging from its past."Written in a clear and elegant style; The Ghosts of Berlin is not just another colorless architectural history of the German capital. . . . Mr. Ladds book is a superb guide to this process of urban self-definition; both past and present."—Katharina Thote; Wall Street Journal"If a book can have the power to change a public debate; then The Ghosts of Berlin is such a book. Among the many new books about Berlin that I have read; Brian Ladds is certainly the most impressive. . . . Ladds approach also owes its success to the fact that he is a good storyteller. His history of Berlins architectural successes and failures reads entertainingly like a detective novel."—Peter Schneider; New Republic"[Ladds] well-written and well-illustrated book amounts to a brief history of the city as well as a guide to its landscape."—Anthony Grafton; New York Review of Books

It is not for beginners but when youre ready to play up the neck or pic a lead this will be all you need. It is all in this book:CAGED Sequence. Scale Forms. Lead Patterns etc. And as the title suggests. it puts the material in a logical format so that you can remember the material more easily. Great diagrams.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Must Have BookBy Felix FlemonsThis is a must have book for anyone who really wants to grasp the musical theory as it applies to guitar playing. The book does not use the traditional approach to musical theory training nor do I believe it is a good book to learn music theory as it relates to other musical instruments. However. because of the unique tuning of the guitar. (1-E. 2-B. 3-G. 4-D. 5-A. 6-E) this book is fantastic for beginners and intermediate level guitar players of all genres. In particular. learning and committing to memory the CAGED system will be worth your while as all other cords and scales are derivatives of these five basic forms. That been said. I strongly suggest you buy this book and keep it around you whenever you are practicing your guitar playing.
