The 1960s witnessed a sustained period of economic growth; consumer spending and stable employment. This hitherto unknown prosperity enabled a market growth in levels of owner occupation and a subsequent boom in the sale of household furnishings and luxury goods. The 1960s Home looks at the styles and fashions in domestic housing and interiors between 1960 and 1970. Although this period has received increasing attention in recent years; much of it has been concentrated on progressive and exclusive design rather than on the furniture and furnishing of the average home.

An easy and entertaining read; just wash the sarcasm and vitriol off your hands before you eat!By Glitterkat59 - Frustrated ArtistThis is an entertaining autobiography. Smuggery; coolness and clever witticisms abound; sometimes to the point of being over-the-top. This is a page-turner that would be a blessing for long airport lay-overs. If you lived this era and are a fan of the genre; it might be worth checking out. I believe Andrew Mathisons self-aggrandizing version of what happened back then is a little different than how the events really occurred. Somewhere in the middle lies the factual version of the events; Im sure . . . One thing that really stands out is Mathisons utter disdain for any of the other musicians/bands mentioned. The sarcasm and insults heaped on most all other musicians make abundantly clear; 40+ years of pent-up bitterness and anger at not getting an invite to the cool kids club. Only the Stones escape the vitriol. Dismissing Freddie Mercury with any number of "buck-tooth Freddie" type insults; pretending not to know the names of genre and era defining personalities and dismissing/laughing off their contributions to real history; is most unflattering for the author. Still; an easy; worthwhile read and a good way to pass some time.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A glam rocker that can write!By Stevie LThis is without a doubt the best written rock autobiography I have ever read. Wow; can Andrew write. I had never heard of the Hollywood Brats and honestly; I have no interest in their music whatsoever.....but this book is great. The first 100 pages burn! I was laughing out loud and hooked immediately....then it slowed down for me about 2/3rds through but it is so well written that I recommend it MOST HIGHLY. I would stop and re-read paragraphs as if it were Henry Miller.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Four StarsBy MayeVangreat insight into the rock and roll industry
