I had hoped that this book would continue the personal interest story in that essay. Moons brother; in childhood; tries to figure out what sex is and decides it must be "like the weather". However; this book is much more focused on Dargers life story and work; supposing that rather than wishing to adopt an island of little girls; he wanted to be adopted BY an island of little girls. It has been awhile since I read it; but I loved it a lot. It is a rather slim volume; and a good place for someone just starting out reading queer theory or who doesnt frequently read academic style writing.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Absolutely the place to begin.By Jesper ValgreenWhether your interests are scholarly or casual; and since Dargers own works arent published in any even remotely complete or coherent form; I believe this to be the place to begin in earnest understanding this great and strange writer and artist. The book appears well researched and well written; with full references; including the names of institutions where Dargers works may be found. And its an enjoyable read as well...
