Could use a more in-depth and extensive glossary.By Grateful2BMommyHubby passed both his Homes and LEED associate exam the same day after only 4 weeks of studying (and some Grace from prayer that morning!). He relied primarily on the 2 books by Michelle Cottrell. + online practice exams from GBES and their printed flashcards. He would have liked another 2-3 weeks to study. but still managed 97% on the Associate and 87% on the Homes. He has a degree in Construction Management Sciences from the top ranked CM school in the US. and has built commercial and custom homes for years. Beware that regardless of your educational or building experience; the USGBC has created their own language; much of which would never be learned in school nor on the job. There is a great deal of new vocabulary that is all about memorization. There are also many questions that seem intentionally "tricky". I helped hubby study while driving across a few states for the test. The main area I feel Ms. Cottrells books could improve in is glossary and defining more of the very important terms. It was often necessary while reading the book to go to other sources (the dictionary online and USGBC site) to search for relatively basic definitions that were critical to understanding the content. It would save a lot of time if additional terms were defined more clearly in the text. Still. the books were well organized. and definitely helped explain the "big picture" sufficiently. We are grateful the author wrote the texts and ordered the authors Study Guide for his 3rd test. the BD+C. Hubbys tip: after getting the "big picture". devote as much time as possible to the online study exams.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
