This book makes sense of the many differing theories regarding the history of Thai (Buddhist) art. From the burials and pottery of Ban Chiang through the Wheels of the Law of the Mon/Dvaravati periods; the exquisite Bodhisattvas of Srivijaya and the stunning Hindu and Khmer images of the later periods all facets of Thai art are examined; dissected and put back together in terms the initiate can understand. Working at the National Museum in Bangkok as a volunteer docent; this book has helped me immensely in understanding the images that I show daily and has allowed me insights into them that are not readily available from other sources. While the Kindle edition goes with me on my tours I actually prefer the hardcover The Arts of Thailand for research and have both copies. Anyone seeking to decipher the complexities of pre-Thai and Thai art must have this book among their collections.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
