Este trabalho apresenta os procedimentos necessaacute;rios para se desenvolver um sistema de interaccedil;atilde;o com o usuaacute;rio que gere a reduccedil;atilde;o do tempo de caacute;lculo de aacute;reas durante o desenvolvimento de mapas topograacute;ficos. Para tanto; programa-se uma comunicaccedil;atilde;o entre AutoCAD Map 3Dreg;; ArcGISreg; e Excelreg; (versatilde;o para estudantes e educadores); a qual possibilita a troca de informaccedil;otilde;es necessaacute;rias para a geraccedil;atilde;o automaacute;tica da planilha de caacute;lculo. Para avaliar o desempenho da soluccedil;atilde;o apresentada; faz-se um comparativo entre o Meacute;todo Tradicional e o Meacute;todo Automatizado. Nestes; para a geraccedil;atilde;o do mapa; o operador separa as aacute;reas (Campo Nativo; Estrada; Aacute;rea Uacute;mida; Campo Limpo; entre outras) em poliacute;gonos individuais que satilde;o exportados para o ArcGIS o qual efetua o caacute;lculo da aacute;rea de cada poliacute;gono e informa os valores obtidos. Estes resultados satilde;o posteriormente inseridos manualmente (Meacute;todo Tradicional) ou automaticamente (Meacute;todo Automatizado) na planilha de caacute;lculos do AutoCAD Map 3D. Nesta anaacute;lise; feita por meio de cronometragem; conclui-se que o Meacute;todo Automatizado reduz em 67% o tempo de caacute;lculo. Espera-se um percentual de reduccedil;atilde;o no tempo de caacute;lculo ainda maior; quando o operador trabalhar com mapas topograacute;ficos de alta complexidade; uma vez que estes necessitam de maiores detalhamentos e apresentam diversificaccedil;otilde;es de caracteriacute;sticas. Este livro descreve todos os procedimentos utilizados com o intuito de que a soluccedil;atilde;o abordada possa ser utilizada em problemas distintos. I was building green homes in Cleveland and conducting greenbuilding seminars for builders. contractors and homeowners. When I discovered E.O.Wilsons concept of biophilia I was so taken by its broad implications that I began each seminar series with a discussion of the notion. How I could have enriched my seminars if I had a copy of Tim Beatleys book! To know that you are part of a much larger movement that respects the natural world in so many imaginative ways and that the movement is worldwide is a true inspiration. Tim has offered us a gift that is special for those of us who have been trying to be faithful to the earth. but is an invitation to young people everywhere to expand the wonderful horizon he has revealed.
