Handmade Chic:nbsp;Fashionable Projects That Look High-End; Not Homespun

[ePub] Handmade Chic:nbsp;Fashionable Projects That Look High-End; Not Homespun by Laura Bennett at Arts-Photography

Description

Architects; development practitioners and designers are working in a global environment and issues such as environmental and cultural sustainability matter more than ever. Past interactions and interventions between developed and developing countries have often been unequal and inappropriate. We now need to embrace fresh design practices based on respect for diversity and equality; participation and empowerment. This book explores what it means for development activists to practise architecture on a global scale; and provides a blueprint for developing architectural practices based on reciprocal working methods. The content is based on real situations - through extended field research and contacts with architecture schools and architects; as well as participating NGOs. It demonstrates that the ability to produce appropriate and sustainable design is increasingly relevant; whether in the field of disaster relief; longer-term development or wider urban contexts; both in rich countries and poor countries.

I had never heard of Laura Bennett before reading through the book and how could I not?! Shes amazing! There are so many awesome projects that are chic and modern (def my style). plus she teaches you amazing extras for working with leather. The project photos are amazing and one day I will be able to sew with extrodinary detail as Laura. Through the photos projects you can tell she has a true love and passion for what she does. This will be a book that I work through and swoon over for years to come!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. There was a crucial page missing from my copy...By Tiffany...but thats not the authors fault. so Im not allowing it to lower my review.I was a huge fan of Laura Bennett when she was on project runway. she had a knack for creating pieces that were luxurious looking and I love that with this book shes sharing some of that with readers. The title completely lives up to its name with step by step instructions for things like leather cuff bracelets and a mink sweater that look as good. if not better than items that could be on any boutique shelf. Rather than assuming that the home sewer understands how to properly work with the materials used in the book. Bennet makes sure to provide information on this which is super helpful and done in a way that it feels conversational but still authoritative.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
