Monochromatic HDR Photography is a book about advanced black and white photography that is intended to show photographers how to work at the intersection of two up-and-coming trends that are at the forefront of the digital revolution: Black White and High Dynamic Range imaging. The book explains techniques for extending dynamic range; monochromatic conversion methods and best practices where the two technologies intersect. Since successful digital monochromatic image creation generally requires using the color information inherent in RAW exposures; most case studies will be presented in full color. In addition; Monochromatic HDR Photography provides extensive coverage of the creative vision required to successfully create high tonal range black white images and the workflow necessary to make art prints from the specialized image making techniques that are explained in the book.So one thing you should know about Monochromatic HDR Photography is that it is a book about digital black and white photography. From the very beginning of photography; practitioners have attempted to extend the dynamic range of their imagery. With digital photography; it has become easily possible to extend the range of lights and darks captured using techniques that fall under the rubric of HDR; which is short for High Dynamic Range. While HDR techniques can enhance many color photos; overuse of HDR can result in garish imagery. But color isnt everything! The HDR techniques of extending lights and darks in an image can also be applied to black and white photography. This avoids any problems with typical over-processing of color images in HDR; and is a really great technique for creating compelling black and white photographs. Monochromatic HDR Photography stands at the intersection of two hot trends in digital photography: black and white; and HDR.Monochromatic HDR Photography presents flowcharts and a detailed workflow for shooting and processing extended tonal range black and white imagery. A complete step-by-step case study is shown using an image of the ceiling of a cathedral. This is a fine example of what you can do with monochromatic HDR: Inside the cathedral; with bright sunlight shining through stained glass windows; and dark corners masked in shadow; the scene in front of the camera contains huge variations in the dynamic range from the lightest whites to the darkest blacks. In Monochromatic HDR Photography; the key topics you will learn in the context of creative image-making include:What subjects work in black whiteShooting sequences in the field to extend dynamic rangeWorking with multi-RAW processingUsing hand-HDR techniquesUsing LAB for color and dynamic range enhancementUsing HDR software to create monochromatic imageryTools; techniques and best practices for monochromatic conversionsPrinting monochromatic HDR images

MilyardThe tab book is not always what you hear from Hookers recordings; but this maybe due to the many years he played the same songs and probably changed a note hereand there.I find with most tab books; they are a good base to go from; but would recommendyou find other tabs online and just go with your gut instinct if something does notsound right; which is pretty much what John Lee Hooker was all about (Gut instinct).I have this book of Hooker and the Definitive Collection CD to hear what he is actually doingand a TASCAM to loop and slow it down. With these three tools; I am progressing at a good pace;and enjoying his finger picking style.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Another book on Hooker... without recording cluesBy Otis SpainEverytime a put my eyes on a new blues guitar book (and Ive got some dozens of them) I keep on making me just the same old question: Why in the hell (almost) nobody gave a single clue on the exact dates of the transcribed recording; if the book does not enclosed the audio too? The blues cant be learned just reading on a tab; you MUST listen to them; or the book will be useless. That said; its always good news to see a book on John Lee Hooker. But...
