Until 1961; Cherry Hill was known as Delaware Township. From its inception in 1844; Delaware Township was an agrarian community dotted with gristmills; blacksmith shops; and taverns. Many farmers earned their livings by selling produce tothe Campbellrsquo;s Soup Company; which had its canning plant in Camden until the 1980s. Delaware Township remained relatively quiet until the 1920s; when the first residential building boom resulted in neighborhoods such as Colwick; Erlton; Woodland; and Barlow. It was changed forever in 1942; when Vinelandbusinessman Eugene Mori opened the Garden State Park racetrack; which became a popular destination for war-weary workers. Mori also opened the Cherry Hill Inn in 1954. The old Cherry Hill Farm and its brilliant cherry trees would inspire the townshiprsquo;sresidents to change their communityrsquo;s name to Cherry Hill seven years later. Cherry Hill; New Jersey captures the growth of this charming suburban community from the early 20th century through the 1990s. He loved the book but unfortunately after about 6 months it started coming apart! The glue in the binding just came undone and the pages starting falling out. Now I cannot find where to email the seller. He is 83 and was very disappointed. My father is very proud of his Hazard book collection and takes really good care of his books. Could be an embarrassment if given as a gift. Would NOT recommend this in paperback!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great BookBy DarlaI was born in Hazard. lived there until I was about 6 years old and then visited a lot as I was growing up. This is my familys roots. I liked this book so much that I bought a second copy for my mother. She has us (her children) on a $10.00 gift limit because she doesnt like us spending our money on her. She stopped fussing about that after she started reading the book. Amazing. clear pictures with detailed explanations. Someone that loves Hazard put this book together.
