Description

Oh.my.goodnesshellip;gratefully things ended on a redeeming note.None-the-less Norfolk has an adventurous spirit for sure; hellip;the pills; the mountain hikes and comedy lsquo;killer showsrsquo; compliment the wide berth of entertainment contained in this small book. The inserted poem ldquo;thoughtsrdquo;; his training and eventual employment as a Park Ranger; alongside numerous stories; ldquo;Theatre of my Mind;rdquo; ldquo; The Bald Eaglerdquo;; ldquo;Maid of the Mistrdquo; the swans; the moving vermin in foodhellip;a list that goes on and on underscores Bobbyrsquo;s ability to take every day stories and make them taller. With less than a quarter remaining of what had thus far been a gratifying read; came the chapter on ldquo; This new thing called Storytellingrdquo;. Storytelling in and of itself is hardly new. Telling stories dates back to the origination of man; although; and admittedly; searching for information on storytelling; or storytellers as late as 2010; resulted in a lot of dead-links and blank space. It wasnt until 2012 when search engines started catching up; populating that vast empty space with this new thing called storytelling. I mean; Bobby; and storytellers such as Jackie (The Story Lady) and Brenda Wong Aoki; had been professional traveling storytellers since the 80rsquo;s. Phenomenal.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Storytelling from a personal perspectiveBy Ethel Lee-MillerTenacity; curiosity; and passion. These qualities come out repeatedly in Bobby Norfolks book. Because his book spans the decades of civil rights; Vietnam; and the politics of that era; it appeals as both a personal story against the cultural backdrop of the times; and a philosophy of storytelling. His style is appealing to read; providing an overview of the storytelling world and his place in it. I was especially drawn to the last chapters of the importance of storytelling as a cultural connection. This part was very inspiring.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Like all big inner-cities in the 50-60rsquo;s they were turbulent ...By Tony ParsonsBobby Norfolk (A/A) grew up in St. Louis; Missouri. Like all big inner-cities in the 50-60rsquo;s they were turbulent times of racial tension; changing America; protests the Vietnam War.I havenrsquo;t forgotten those days growing up in 13 different states attending 23 different types of schools all over the US.Playing Mumbly peg with my homies; power booster pills a chick where I worked sold them to me; didnrsquo;t have that bad of luck but I quit taking them really quick.A remarkable story how he overcame all odds became quite successful in his own right.I did not receive any type of compensation for reading reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers authors; I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.A very awesome book cover; great font writing style. A very well written memoir book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors; nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios; with several twists/turns a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great social history movie; college PP presentation; or mini TV series. A very easy rating of 5 stars.Thank you for the free Goodreads; MakingConnections; Parkhurst Brothers publishers; paperback bookTony Parsons MSW (Washburn)
