I cry in the daytime and in the night season am not silent. Psalm 22Late at night; shoeless; in the rain; a film actor playing the poet Yeats turns up drunk at his appointed Sligo digs. He is met by the grandmother and they dance together to Lili Marlene. In the morning they are discovered; sharing a blanket; by Patrick and his three daughters. Patrick craves tobacco; whiskey and a date with the local barmaid; the sisters yearn for sensation and escape.A funny; modern; intoxicated tale of love and loss; The Night Season premiered at the National Theatre; London; in 2004.

JacksonI am a retiree with no art training who is trying to learn to do Chinese landscape painting. The book provides an introduction to basic brush strokes and Chinese calligraphy; then includes good step-by-step instructions and illustrations for painting orchids; bamboo; and trees; each in several styles. I was able to paint bamboo that satisfied me using only these instructions and several hours of practice. Alas; the book has little on painting rocks; cliffs; and mountains; and the one detailed example of mountains is simplistic and unattractive. All the instructions and illustrations are for using just ink; with no coloring.3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Great for older elementary-aged kidsBy SharonI bought this to help me supplement a lesson on Chinese Brush Art that I was teaching for 5th graders. The book is simple to understand; has good detail for each individual step; and is perfect for this age group. Best of all; it has step-by-step instructions for different paintings; beginning with simple projects and becoming increasingly more complex with each project drawing on previous skills. The kids enjoyed looking through the book and finding ideas to supplement their work. I highly recommend it for older elementary age children; however; I think with patience on the part of the instructor as well as the child; a younger child could benefit from this book; as well.
