Egon Schiele (1890 - 1918) was an Austrian painter; a proteacute;geacute; of Gustav Klimt and important figurative painter of the early 20th century. The twisted body shapes and the expressive line that characterize his paintings and drawings mark the artist as one an earliest exponent of Expressionism. In Schielersquo;s early years; he was strongly influenced by Klimt and Kokoschka but soon evolved into his own characteristic style. Some critics view Schieles work as being grotesque; erotic; pornographic; or disturbing; focusing on sex; death; and discovery. Shiele answered to them in that way: ldquo;To restrict the artist is a crime. It is to murder germinating life.ldquo;

Gave it away to charity two days after getting itBy DiegoI didnt quite know (still dont) how s refund policy works internationally; but bygones being bygones; I bought this along some other Christopher Alexander stuff (I had "A pattern language" and "Notes on the synthesis of form"; I purchased with this the first two volumes of The Nature of Order and "The timeless way of building).Im no stranger to post-structuralist though; and my .fr purchase history reads like someone obsessed with it. But for all the malicious overuse of the phrase "multiculturalism gone awry"; it comes to an extreme that a title that claims to be a study in urbanism is actually about what cultural theory and post-colonial/gender/queer/etc. theory have to say about cities.It may be an useful volume for graduate students plowing their way through high theory but its not for those that are; like; interested in cities. Dont take my word; use the "Look inside!" preview before purchasing; its what I should have done.
