Great resource for community-engaged theatre (or any drama setting)By Joshua PattonJohnston is concerned with a participatory approach to creating theatre in which a community of nonprofessional actors comes together to create meaningful representations of their own stories. His approach supports the proposition that there is great value in the process of creation as opposed to the spectacle or performance product. This practical publication brings together his underpinning philosophy. a perspective into his experiences with facilitating theatre in communities and an analysis of the effectiveness of his framework for action (games. exercises and techniques that he has found useful for his purposes). The games in this resource are especially useful to my theatre classrooms. They are well written and easy to understand. His process is one that I am intrigued by and I will continue to use this resource over and over again.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
