Beginning with the bold claim; "There can be no culture without the transvestite;" Marjorie Garber explores the nature and significance of cross-dressing and of the Wests recurring fascination with it. Rich in anecdote and insight; Vested Interests offers a provocative and entertaining view of our ongoing obsession with dressing up--and with the power of clothes.

Most of them are quite useless.I am an artist and designer and enjoy teaching my 10yo son to draw. so I thought this would be fun. As I scanned through it. I was pleasantly surprised. This is an exceptional example of beginning lessons for kids. The subject matter is very simple. but yet advanced. I believe this would be best suited for kids around 6-10ish (guessing here). The author gives simple step-by-step illustrations for people. pets and more including wheelchairs and walkers. If your child isnt handicapped. it also can be utilized as a wonderful teaching platform in how many of us have differences. but just the same on the inside. Ive been adamant on teaching full equality to my son. that God made each of us perfect in every way. regardless how society thinks we "should" look... Its absolutely tragic seeing how the media has molded the populations views on physical perfection. It has left generations of angry. bitter. depressed individuals full of low self confidence!Rarely do I leave such a review. but seeing how the author offered this book for free shows me what compassion she has. Thank you for that Kaylea. I hope you always leave it free so others can see how special you are.I definitely will be purchasing other books of hers...0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I love the concept. Great photos.By Alex SBy helping kids learn actions like hopping and smiles. this author takes them through learning to draw basic characters. It is designed so the more independent learner can learn on their own. or those who need more help can be guided by adults.Best of all. the story tellers are those who have special needs like wheelchairs. The age range will vary. depending on how much interaction is provided. but I would suggest at least kindergarten.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
