Since settlers first touched upon its shores in 1835; the city of Clinton; Iowa has evolved from a humble trading post on the Mississippi River into a vibrant city of thriving commerce; majestic homes; and riverfront splendor. Once the largest lumber milling center in the world; Clinton has long possessed a rich cultural heritage and a pioneering spirit. Lots of interesting pictures. not much text.By Susan RIf you are looking for a book with interesting historical pictures that are not really available. this is a great book. She researched their origins well. and got the photos from reliable sources. She does not offer much interpretation on the importance of the history behind the photos. But that is OK...I liked the book for what it was. I downloaded mine onto my BW kindle. I think that that was a mistake....I should have bought a hard copy or a color kindle.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
