Authorrsquo;s purpose? To share stories that led her to her profession and who she is today (a lover of all things fashionable). I LOVED the way she admired style from afar. but admitted that she didnrsquo;t have the guts herself to try and pull it off at times. Irsquo;ll never forget the summer I was a camp counselor in upstate New York and I wore little flowered sun dresses from the thrift store and high top converse sneakers. ldquo;Shersquo;s very pretty but so weird!rdquo; I overheard a fellow counselor talking about me one night. I should have been proud that my style was noticed; instead I was shamed and never wore that combo again. The girls today seem to have a lot more freedom to dress how they please! What will you carry away from this book? Inspiration to think back to the choices you made on your own discovery of self! LOVED every second of ithellip;..1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Stritctly for FashionistasBy StashGirlFun. fast read. Basically. the author (current or past editor of Lucky mag) devotes a few pages each to describing each of the many stylish woman she encountered over her life. I "get" what she was trying to do (because I too remember stylish woman who I marveled after) but I dont think her descriptions were as developed as they could be. They didnt make me LONG for the fashion. On the other hand. you can read the entire book in one short setting. and if you are a true fashionista. youll read some of the descriptions and think wistfully . "Oh. yeah. I remember the girl in high school who wore the perfect pair of Levis. the greatest leather belt and the coolest poncho".2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Cute bookBy Platinum BrunetteBeautiful illustrations and sweet and funny descriptions. Its a good inspiration and fun to open up now and then. A few of the illustrations have provided me with some ideas to update my style and others have made me smile as I remembered living with some of the fashions depicted (alas. the 80s come to mind and thank goodness there were no cell phone cameras then!) A fun and sweet read.
