Unsure how to sew the new knits so theyrsquo;ll look great and fit better than ready-to-wear? Knits for Real People helps readers sort out the differences in fabric types and explains the fitting and sewing techniques for each. Photographs of knit fashions from McCallrsquo;s; Vogue; and Butterick pattern companies provide inspiration throughout the book and illustrate the many types of knits. The many techniques explained include: layout; cutting; and marking; seaming techniques using sewing machines and sergers; including the use of the differential feed feature; creative embellishments; including piping; flounces; ldquo;peepers;rdquo; and decorative serging; neckline and edge finishes; including bands; collars; and bindings; sleeves; hems and closures; and fitting techniques for tops; pants; and activewear. Knit fabrics are very popular in fabric stores and this book helps people take advantage by teaching how to fit patterns for this versatile material.

A little wit goes a long wayBy Pauly....and if you read his book by Mangan titlde A Like In Letters" and also Jonathan Croalls book "A Theatrical Life"; as well as "An Actor and His Time" then you dont really need this book as these celebrated "bricks" are mostly documented in the aforementioned tomes. Yet; there are a few extra and its fun to see them separated and catalogued. If you are a completist; get it!2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Limited appealBy CustomerThe title of this review is not meant to be disparaging in any way; I found the book generally amusing; but it does probably have limited appeal unless you have a British sense of humour; and are familiar with John Gielguds work and the ways of English theatre.
