Icons (Temporis Collection)

[ePub] Icons (Temporis Collection) by Nikodim Pavlovich Kondakov at Arts-Photography

Description

For fashion journalist Lauren (ldquo;LoLordquo;) Scruggs; a short flight to look at Christmas lights turned into a nightmare when she was struck by the planersquo;s spinning propeller blades. As Lauren was rushed to the hospital; the world watched in shock and horror. Several major surgeries and thousands of prayers later; Lauren was still alive. But she had suffered brain trauma and lost her left hand and left eye. And she had to face some incredibly difficult questions: What kind of future will I have? Where is God in all this pain? Will anyone ever be able to love me now? In Still LoLo; Lauren and her family reveal what really happened that night; what Laurenrsquo;s life is like today; what got them through their journey toward healing; and how they conquered all odds to persevere as a family. Containing exclusive photos and personal stories from Lauren and her family; Still LoLo is a compelling and fiercely beautiful account of faith; determination; and staying true to who you aremdash;no matter what.

Beautifully illustrated guideBy AMAZON CUSTOMERThe book is beautifully illustrated with more than 300 color photographs. most of them full page and grouped by iconographic type and subject (i.e.. "Mother of God". "Christ". "Apostles and Martyrs". etc.). Photographs are also generously captioned to describe each icons significant elements. Because the collection of icons covered in this book is rather large (it has literally hundreds). the theology. chronological history and the development of various iconographic schools can be lost to someone unfamiliar with the subject. I recommend another lavishly illustrated book. "A History of Icon Painting" (various authors). and "The Meaning of Icons" (Lossky and Ouspensky) as complements to this volume to cover the historical and theological aspects. respectively. All in all. this colorful 380-page guide to Eastern Orthodox iconographic imagery is a generous one. albeit its small size (and smaller than average typography). I recommend it.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Not what I expected.By LinnyNot what I expected.
