Idlewild (Images of America)

[DOC] Idlewild (Images of America) by Jeffrey S. Croushore in Arts-Photography

Description

Originally a narrow; barren strip of land known as the Neck; Bostons South End grew from a lonely sentry post and execution grounds to what is today the largest Victorian neighborhood in the United States. With the filling of the South Cove in the 1830s; the area became one of the greatest planned residential districts of its time; a heritage preserved in unique architectural features such as red brick swell bay facades; elaborate balusters; and fanciful porches.

Reading about the history of the park and the changes brought back many childhood memories. I now go back just to re-live those memories. If you want to read about a classic family amusement park. this is the book for you.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The book is very interesting. It goes back into the history of Idlewild. Back to the beginning. which is very intersting. I however really enjoy the history that I remember. Reading the book has me going back into my old photos and finding pictures of me on the rides pictured in the book.I have flipped through the book with my husband and we both exclaim. " I remember that!" "I loved that ride!" "I forgot all about that!"I plan on purchasing this book for gifts. It is a wonderful trip down memory lane.
