The historic decoupling of action and sound generation might be seen to have distorted or even effaced the expressive body; with the retention of performance qualities via recoupling not equally retaining bodily expressivity. I recently read Goldonis Memoirs (translated into Italian from the original French and well worth reading) and I can see how this play about Molieres problems in getting a famous play produced reflects some of Goldonis own troubles.
