Although we visualize the landscape as a place; it is best understood as a process. Landscape design thus becomes a tool for managing this process of change to create meaningful and compelling places. Landscape Architecture Theory provides an insightful introduction to the evolving body of knowledge that underpins the discipline and practice of landscape architecture. The authorrsquo;s treatment emphasizes the interrelation-ships between the biophysical and human dimensions of the environment and the theories and decision-making processes that issue from these relationships. Students and practitioners alike will appreciate how this comprehensive text integrates knowledge from a wide variety of disciplinesmdash;including earth science; ecological science; behavioral science; design process; and aestheticsmdash;with the theories that have been formulated to apply that knowledge to understanding and shaping the landscape. This understanding; it is hoped; will result in designs that improve both quality of life and quality of the environment.

Well written - great diagrams and clear instructionsBy kemilieI have three sons that use the Suzuki method with their cello studies; so when my daughter decided to take up the harp I was delighted to learn that Suzuki has books for harp too. Her teacher does not strictly use the Suzuki method but I figured that since there is some overlap between these songs and the ones in the Suzuki Cello 1 book the kids would have fun playing together.Im quite delighted with this book. It has great clearly labeled illustrations and helps to introduce harp skills in an easy; concise; clear and friendly manner. It is much better written than the Cello and Violin Suzuki books Ive seen. If you are new to harp I think this is defintely a great resource for your shelf. The songs get you going - they start out easily to build your confidence but by the end of the book youre playing some beautiful and more complex tunes already. Even without the music; the book is worth it simply for the great harp diagrams and knot tying illustrations to educate yourself/keep handy.Be sure to pick up the CD that goes with it too for the best learning experience! With the Suzuki method you play the songs over (and over and over and over) to internalize the melody/rhythm/intonation. Then when you are ready to learn the song on the instrument you are already ahead of the game because you know the piece by heart! Its a beautiful system. :)8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Just how I remember itBy EthnictressesI started playing the harp when I was in 1st grade back in 1990 and my harp teacher taught me out of this book. Its a great book for beginners; young and old.Fast forward 20+ years later and I have took up playing the harp again; and I have to start from scratch since it has been well over 15 years since I have last played. This book has helped me (along with my current harp teacher who is teaching from different music books) to re-familiarize myself again with the help. If the Suzuki Harp CD is available; purchase that also; especially if there is no harp teacher available.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Nice explanations of how to switch fingersBy CustomerA primer on the basics of harp playing on the classical Suzucki method. Nice explanations of how to switch fingers. Fingering is marked so not as to leave the beginner wondering. I have been playing folk harp for a year and was curious as to what the traditional method was taught. Picked up some good tips.
