Its lacking great photos and pictures that this series usually has in their books. This book is certainly not for 5th grader either. Its more on a 2nd grade level.There are about 200 books in this ebook series that are offered in the kindle store for either free or for .99cent;. There is a variety of subjects covered and most of the books follow about the same format. You can take a peek inside the books by clicking "Look Inside" and this is pretty much what you get in each book.Anyway; overall; I do like most of these books in the Baby Professor series for their wonderful pictures. It would be nice if the books went into more detail but they are very basic books that I hope will get my kids interested in finding more about each subject.I plan on keeping most of these books on my iPad for down time for my kids when they get bored waiting different places like the doctors office or practice for a sibling. I sometimes watch a friends 3 year old daughter and she likes to look through the pictures on my phone. I plan on showing her these books to keep her entertained. So; sometimes there is only one sentence per page. There are no pictures or photos of any kind in this book. This is not typical; as books by this company usually have a lot of stunning photographs. I am not sure it is enough to call it a book in a true sense of it; but I got to read it for free for a review; so as a free book this is ok. There is nothing in the book though that you couldnt find elsewhere online; and it seems like just typing up a few words in a few sentences would not be enough to call this a book for 5th graders. Good for flash cards or topic startersBy Jane averagegalAs with all the baby professor books this one is somewhere between 17 to 18 pages but missing are the beautiful pictures that all of the baby professor books have this one is just words that may be why its geared to an older crowd in the title but I still would keep it from first to third grade introduction. It has a lot of facts in it and information that you could use to gauge the interest of students or your children to find where they wanted to get more in-depth information about womens clothing of them they might want a picture or to go into detail about it some information about the church but just a paragraph of everything seems to be broken down into topics and paragraphs which isnt bad but this book is definitely not as interesting visually. All of the paragraphs are on the same type of paper old parchment with sea shell scallops in each corner so theres not a lot visually other are some details as far as dates with the 13 colonies consisted of things of that nature it really is more of an appetizer more of an idea to gauge the interest of the child.As I stated before this would be more of an introduction sometime around Thanksgiving maybe to discuss with your 1st to 3rd grader get an idea of topics then use these topics to maybe Explorer but by no means would this be considered a piece or part of a complete curriculum.Even though I was given this at free or discounted price it is still my honest review.
