A Buffet for the Hungry MindBy Nathaniel PutneyThe Theory of Everything: A Book About Something is as thought-provoking as it is hilarious and occasionally deeply personal; a ride through the mind of a self-professed madman who by the end will have you questioning what sanity is; let alone if its even as useful as weve been led to believe. A refreshingly unpolished escape from the rigidly edited voice of similarly published works; this book is an excellent review for those who have studied the topics he covers but also a terrific starting point for younger readers who want one stop shopping on a host of modern and ancient theories on subjects including but not limited to: the origins of the universe; existentialism; proper fishing technique; mythology; knowledge; and of course dragons! (Why do they get their own chapt- oh of course!)Even the most staunch cynic would have to admit that if nothing else; this book is a fantastic opportunity to get inside the mind of someone with a cerebral head-space clearly running a million miles a minute. For those of you looking for a close-picture view of a fictional world filled with characters who develop in an ever-changing life and are faced with innovation; politics; and some other crazy topics and crack-pot theories on the evolution of life; this is your next read. Lam really managed to pull out a nice short novel in a classy ldquo;pulprdquo; writing style by banding each chapter together with creative openings; interesting ties on reality; and subtly poking fun of the human nature. From ldquo;burning the s*** out of each otherrdquo; with the invention of fire to prevention of routine tree humping fetishes for the sake of ldquo;scaring the squirrels;rdquo; this book has something for everyone and has been quite enjoyable to read through the pages wrote by a mad man.
