Description

Kenneth McLeishs definitive translations of the most successful French dramatist of the Belle EpoqueGeorges Feydau (1862-1921) was the most successful French dramatist of the belle epoque and is now widely regarded as one of the greatest of farce-writers. His series of dazzling hits match high-speed action and dialogue with ingenious plotting. Reaching the heights of farcical lunacy; his plays nevertheless contain touches of barbed social comment and allowed him to mention subjects which would have provoked outrage in the hands of more serious dramatists. This volume of new; sparkling translations by Kenneth McLeish contains his two masterpieces; Hearts Desire Hotel (LHocirc;tel du libre eacute;change) and Sauce For the Goose (Le Dindon); with three other plays from the peak of his career; The One That Got Away (Monsieur Chasse!); Now You See It (Le System Ribadier) and Pig in a Poke (Chat en poche).

Informative Read on Teaching Children about the BodyBy Jennifer P.The title suggests that this book is for babies; I believe that it is more appropriate for a much older age group. I do not think that learning about livers is appropriate for a baby just learning what a hand or eyes are. I would suggest this book for children in the age groups of kindergarten or first grade. It is about 18 pages long which is not too long. I do like that each body part that is explained has a picture included right beside the explanation. Some of the words were too dense and should be simplified for a child to understand. I also think that some of the pictures used could have been more simple. They kind of reminded me of study material for biology class in college. Some of the facts presented could have been much more simpler. Words like alignment and alimentary canal. There were also spelling and grammatical errors. I noticed that this publishing company dos not take the time to thoroughly review work for grammatical errors. Biology book not really written for babies...By N J"I Know My Body" is an okay book for children... I wouldnt say for babies; as the description and the title suggests. The pictures in the book are definitely aimed towards children; however; I had some concerns about some of the things written. A book aimed towards young children should have simple words and phrases in it where the child can easily understand on their own; or understand after someone explains it to them once or twice. One of the pages in the book said "The mouth is the first portion of the alimentary canal that receives food and saliva". Wooooo thats a mouthful! Especially for a child! I have a masters degree; and I know that if my three year old asked me what the alimentary canal was; Id have to Google it! I think it would have been more appropriate for this fact to be a bit more simple and straightforward; rather than an attempt at teaching your child college biology. There were some other things; too; like certain facts about body parts that just shouldnt have been there for a young child ("people can survive without a stomach if it has to be removed for some disease")... ok; cool fact? Yes. Necessary for a young child? Not really. In fact; it might seem kind of disturbing to some more delicate children. I think a comment more about the purpose of the stomach would have been a better choice in this matter. Like I said; the pictures are great... love the diagrams that show where everything is and what they are called; but the wording is a bit much... especially when this is supposed to be for children. There were a couple grammatical errors that I noticed. For example; on the page for the skull; the fact is written exactly like this: "The skull protects our internal organs in our head specially the brain".Overall; I wasnt too fond of the book... The pictures in the book would be appropriate for maybe young child up to 4th grade or so... not much older than that in terms of age range; but some of the wording/facts are written more on a middle/high school level. Some facts are appropriate for a young age; but this book definitely needs some work to get it more on a specific age level; considering (again) it says its for babies; drawn for young children; written for young adults.I received this book at a discount for my honest review.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great book for learning information about body organs definitely meant for children five years or olderBy Thomas FamilyPros:-has descriptions of body parts along with labeling of what they are-shows multiple areas of the bodyCons:-is meant for a much higher age group then what the initial picture of the book leads you to thinkmy son just turned two years old and is very good at naming the body parts that we have been teaching him. I thought that this would be a great book for him to learn more body parts and be able to point and name them as we quizzed him. Unfortunately while this book is fantastic its quite a bit above the age range that I expected it to be. I didnt really read the description as to what ages its meant for but its definitely more for children six and up maybe more along the lines of nine or 10 years old. The book itself only has one page of generic body parts such as head arms eyes ndash; the remainder of the book is very specific to body organs. As you can see in my pictures it has things like the liver with information about the body part. I really like that the book not only has the body part in what it looks like with the name but it also has a little bit of information about what each body part does. After the generic page of full body parts each individual page is per organ and there are about 10 organs in the book. Why whats up fantastic book for the Kindle and very educational its well above the age for my son. I definitely think it would be a fantastic educational book for an older child.I received this product for a discount in exchange for the promise to give an honest review after I have thoroughly tested the product.
