Donald; Donald; Donald!By LuvvicThis is a great companion to the documentary. This book is a lot like that book of Nirvanas treasures; wherein theres personal photographs and stories told by family and friends. If youre a fan; this is a must have; youll be happy with it. Its not a very long book so weigh that when you buy; dont complain later. Overall; for the price; Id buy again; like I said; it accompanies the documentary so thats cool in and of itself.Theres a lot of artwork Ive never seen before and some letters as well. Courtney keeps a stronghold on all of that and maybe one day well get the full report when he becomes an estate; depending on how his daughter runs things. But for now; its another glimpse and some great photos and stories. Its a smaller book; like 8x10. Grab it because we dont know when these things go out of print and that happens a lot and with no warning.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. What a sad loss for the world!By DragonspikeThis book is great and gives you lots of insight into the world of Kurt Cobain. Its very detailed and has some great art work done by Kurt himself. This by far the best book on Kurt Cobain I have read! So if you are a fan of Kurt; his band Nirvana; or you are just curious about him in general this is a good read!15 of 18 people found the following review helpful. Its nice to have some of Kurts artwork printed in a ...By Imaginal ComponentThis book is smaller than I was hoping; dimensions-wise. The text contains an "oral history" style chop-up of the interviews given by the seven people in Montage of Heck (Cobains mother; sister; father and stepmother; plus early girlfriend Tracy; bandmember Krist Novoselic; and wife Courtney Love); plus a introductory forward by Brett Morgen; the films director. With the exception of a few photos; all of the images in this book are culled from Montage of Heck; theres not much unreleased stuff. Its nice to have some of Kurts artwork printed in a book; but a substantial amount of the images in this book are also animation stills that are either an artists interpretation of Kurt; or adaptions of Kurts artwork. I was hoping for more of a coffee-table style book dedicated to his artwork and unreleased journal entries; but this is a nice companion to the film nonetheless. Honestly theres not much revelatory in the interviews. Mainly we see how little the people supposedly closest to Kurt knew him: a lot of what they say contradicts each other. Id suggest this book for diehard fans of Kurt; but its not as nicely presented as the documentary itself is.
