History with a healthy dose of opinion.By Clayton BurnsThis book reads as more of a collection of generally factual anecdotes; peppered liberally with the authors modern opinions on general historical trends. The author is clearly trying to stir up pity for some groups and condemnation for others; while providing subtly different definitions for certain terms; perhaps in an attempt to distinguish himself from existing history authors. This distracts from the more objective analysis. While it is true that any historical text will reflect the bias of its author; this author makes little attempt to temper his bias. Still; it does have its moments; takes a fairly global perspective; and is an entertaining read that is sure to spark questions.
