James Arness was such a special guy. Hes very humble--theres no bragging. and no dirt or criticisms of other actors. which is very refreshing. The book has quite a few photos. and theyre always fun to look at. I learned he was even made an honorary U.S. Marshal later in his life. which I thought was terrific. Theres lots of interesting trivia for anyone who loved the show. If you like James Arness before you read the book. youll absolutely love him after you read it.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. James Arness AutobiographyBy dhannonI enjoyed reading a little more about the private life of James Arness but he could have been more forthcoming0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. James ArnessBy Cyndi ParkerI began watching Gunsmoke in 2009...and for the 3rd time smitten by an actor! Heath Barkley was the first in the early 70s...Gibbs around 2005...and now Matt Dillon!!! Funny how the crush I first had with Lee Majors role at 15 feels much like the crush at 55! After James Arness died I heard a lot about him and the other characters on Gunsmoke and became curious...searched my handy iPad and heard or learned. if you will. more. I thank Mr. Arness for the time he took to write his book. He had an extraordinary life and appreciated it. Though I have not turned on the TV in well over a year I do take up u-tube and watch some of the westerns a couple times a week...thanks to all who made and make that possible!
