Japanese Art of Miniature Trees and Landscapes: Their Creation; Care; and Enjoyment

[PDF] Japanese Art of Miniature Trees and Landscapes: Their Creation; Care; and Enjoyment by Giovanna Halford-MacLeod; Giovanna M. Halford at Arts-Photography

Description

Music has always been esteemed for its power to speak directly to our higher consciousness; a power founded in the purity of simple harmonic ratios. In this book; Alain Danielou traces the development of musical scales and tuning from their origins in both China and India; through their merging in ancient Greece; and on to the development of the Western traditions of modal and polyphonic music. Understanding these potent harmonic relationships offers a way for todays musicians to transcend the limitations of overly rationalistic music by drawing on its metaphysical roots.

It is up there with John Nakas Bonsai Techniques I II (which are probably the best books on bonsai available in English). I do have one word of caution to potential buyers. this exact same book was republished in 1996 as "The Art of Bonsai: Creation. Care and Enjoyment". I didnt realize until after I received my order that I already owned an exact copy with a different title. Do yourself a favor and make sure you dont already own this book under either of its two titles. "The Art of Bonsai: Creation. Care and Enjoyment" 1996. or "The Japanese Art of Miniature Trees and Landscapes" 1957. The content is identical. though the quality of the photos in the 1996 version are slightly better.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. great bookBy GCWI first became aware of this book at a Shohin Bonsai show in Santa Nella California in February 2014 and thought to myself I just have to have this book. I came home and log into and low and behold it was there so I ordered it is exactly like the seller said it would be. It has a very nice looking cover and well taken care of. Some age of course. and the smell of the book reminded me of sitting in the library on weekends consuming knowledge. Once I turned to it pages I soon realize that this is a book that was hard to put down. The author put a lot into this book which contain detail information on all types of bonsai. I can only say that this book is a must have if one wishes to continue their journey in the art of Bonsai. It is a great book for beginners and a great reference book for the advance traveler. I have read several books on the art of Bonsai and I must say that this is by far one of the best and is a must have in any library. This book is everything I thought it would be and more. I definitely will not part with it. This book is my treasure. A find that I will cherish.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
