Needs more depth and varietyBy Tim B.I suppose its an okay book for someone who is new to jazz. but to a more experienced player it lacks depth and variety. Joes biggest asset. in my opinion. was his chordal flexibility. This book doesnt have nearly enough of that in it. If it had been up to me. Id have done away with the large section on single-note soling and focused on Joes interesting routes through the chord changes of standards. Joes single-note soloing is very much bread butter bebop. which can be acquired from a lot of other musicians. But interesting chord accompaniment and chord melody playing? Thats where Joe really shined. Thats what I wish this book had more of.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Joe Pass Guitar StyleBy Dimitar NinovJoe Pass - a jazz guitarist of genius. is an inspiration for everyone who wants to approach music improvisation in a simple and open manner. His style of teaching and improvising is free of chains and cliches that are being spread all over the place in music departments today. This is what I love about him. and his book reflects this lightness and freedom.
