Just doing it. The New Asian Century: A History of Advertising

[ePub] Just doing it. The New Asian Century: A History of Advertising by Pia Elliott at Arts-Photography

Description

Ward Pound Ridge Reservations expansive landscapes and long-abandoned cellar holes tell a unique story. Its 4;315 acres; set aside by the Westchester County Parks Commission in 1925; hold within its boundaries a legacy left by the Native Americans and 18th- and 19th-century families who farmed the rolling fields and rocky hillsides. Marks of the 20th century include the remains of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) encampment and the stone walls; trailside shelters; and roads built by these young men. Thousands of trees planted by the CCC stand tall; shading the reservations hiking and riding trails. Sitting amidst the parks streams; cliffs; and hills is the Trailside Nature Museum; which was enhanced by the efforts of local garden club women. Indian rock shelters and a cave used by the Leather Man lend an air of mystery to the beauty and wonders of the parks protected flora and fauna. Almost a century after its quiet beginnings; the reservation still invites visitors to enjoy and learn about the wonders of nature.

The most balanced of all Riefenstahl BiographysBy Nelson AspenIm fascinated with the artist person of Leni Riefenstahl and feel that this work may be the most balanced account of her life available in print. Trimborns top-notch research and constant juxtaposition of her intertwined personal and professional lives makes for not only compelling reading but an insightful look into the "wonderful; horrible life" of this famous figure. While it is certainly true that Riefenstahls longevity transformed her from a figure of controvery to a "cultural monument;" the author doesnt allow that fact to let her off the hook. He acknowledges her charm as fairly as he does her complicity; which may leave readers with more questions than answers. There is no doubt that Leni Riefenstahl was a talented enigma and dynamic personality and Trimborn examines all those facets throughout her past present infamy. My only regret is that the book ended abruptly and it would have been interesting to learn more of her final days and subsequent business legacy with Leni Riefenstahl Productions. The notes and Bibliography are excellently compiled.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
