I thought it was going to be a book for my 2nd grader but its mostly just a picture book that doesnt go into full detail about what animals eat. You can click on the "Look inside" and see a preview of the book. This is the format throughout the book. A child asks a question "What do elephants eat?" and then below that is the answer. "They eat fruits." Then there is a picture of the animal either on that page on the page before.Also; Speedy Publishing books usually have awesome photographs in their books and this is just cartoon pictures.Here are some of the animals in the book and what the book says they eat:Mice eat cheese.Rabbits eat carrots.Cats eat mice.Overall; I would not pay for this ebook; Its offered for free right now so you can grab it while its free you have nothing to loose. There are over 200 ebooks offered by Speedy Publishing and many are free. They seem to rotate through which book are free. Good so long as the parent/elder has the patience to answer lots of "but why?" follow up questionsBy J.S.Im using the same review; copy/pasted from my last Speedy book; as the same holds true for this book as it did the last oneIm taking a different approach with this one; it occurred to me after reviewing a number of these Speedy Publishing LLC kids ebooks that Im not exactly their target audience.So; with that in mind; I read the book with my two children and then let them provide feedback that I would base my review on. My two girls (and 5 and 7) gobbled it up. Usually they fidget when its time to read a book; or this one wants a glass of water; then that one needs to use the restroom. They usually wont sit still for a story unless they were literally glued to their seats. The bonus to this point is they both had MANY follow up questions for each question and their subsequent answers from the book They remained very curious and engaged from start to finish of the book (almost an hour and a half due to me having to have dialogue with them and answer all of their other questions) I asked them at the end of the book what their thoughts of the book were and to quote the oldest said " I loved it! can we read it again!" so obviously she loved the book and as such I would say it was a hit for the intended reader.Heres my little caveat though; the books intended audience is perfect only as long as an adult is available to answer the slew of follow up questions from the book. That is not necessarily a negative. I think this book offers an opportunity for the parent/child to actively engage in dialogue and ends in relationship building. Based on that fact I give a solid 4 stars and would purchase this book as well as the others by this same author; I would just do so with the knowledge that its an active Q A style book; and gets their brains working so for sure not a bed time story type book.I received this free or discounted for testing and reviewing the product. All the same principals apply to What do Animals eat...Okay so I have decided to go about my review a littler differently than I usually do. I am going to allow my child to give me their feedback and base the majority of my review on that since lets face it this book is intended to be reviewed by the actual reader not by a 30 something mother of 2. lol! So with that said I read this book to my 6 year old son and he seemed to just gobble it up.
