Public transit is a powerful tool for addressing a huge range of urban problems; including traffic congestion and economic development as well as climate change. But while many people support transit in the abstract; its often hard to channel that support into good transit investments. Part of the problem is that transit debates attract many kinds of experts; who often talk past each other. Ordinary people listen to a little of this and decide that transit is impossible to figure out. Jarrett Walker believes that transit can be simple; if we focus first on the underlying geometry that all transit technologies share. In Human Transit; Walker supplies the basic tools; the critical questions; and the means to make smarter decisions about designing and implementing transit services. Human Transit explains the fundamental geometry of transit that shapes successful systems; the process for fitting technology to a particular community; and the local choices that lead to transit-friendly development. Whether you are in the field or simply a concerned citizen; here is an accessible guide to achieving successful public transit that will enrich any community.

Twas referred by knitwear designer Laura Nelkin in her knitting course. Quite frankly her course was in much more detail on the subject matter. Still. a good reference for knitters wanting to learn the basics of this technique.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Nice book for learning Knitting with BeadsBy mmdunphyI thought that the explanations were simple and described thoroughly how to go to the next step. allowing your imagination to take over. There was a section on correcting mistakes. The book itself is not a long read but it will provide as source for reference. The knitter needs to love knitting who reads this book other wise it will only serve to frustrate that individual although the instructions are clear. I had some information when I bought this book. but this book took information about knitting with beads to a whole new level. There are discussions on pre-loading the beads or adding them one at a time. She discusses how to take a pattern. like a counted cross stitch pattern and load the beads so that you can recreate the image when you are knitting. She also discusses the differences between knitting the bead into place and dropping the bead between stitches. Like I said I am still reading and rereading this book to absorb all the information in it. I havent tried any of the patterns so I cannot comment on how easy or hard the directions are to follow.
